We’ve let the Reader Review of the Week slip through the cracks over the past month or two, as summer vacation seemed to sap our brains. Looking at this week’s pool of eligible reviews, though, I had a hard time choosing just one winner. The responses are getting more informative. Almost everyone is now listing their mileage, which is both a sign of the times and a helpful thing for prospective buyers out there.
The winner was “perfect stranger” from College Station, Texas — Go Aggies — and his 2008 Ford Edge. Since they build ‘em big in Texas, he lets us know that the Edge is a good fit for tall drivers and passengers. Read his review below. If you want to submit your own review, go here.

“I purchased new, spring 2008, to replace an aged Isuzu Trooper. I have really enjoyed the Edge, especially its handling on windy days and decent gas mileage. I get 21-22 mpg weekly and 23-24+ on road trips. [Ed. note: The Edge is rated 16/24 mpg city/highway.]
“Sync is a great value and I am really sold on it — for both the hands-free phone and the fantastic MP3 convenience. I transferred my music files to a flash drive and leave my iPod at home most days.
“One of best features for me is the power liftgate. I would like to never be without that again. I haven’t had trouble with blind spot — I am fairly tall; maybe it depends on your height. And I like the convenience of keyless entry.
“The front seats are super for both myself (with back issues) and 6-foot-2 spouse. You don’t feel like you are about to slide off these seats. I wish the backseat was power adjustable, but that’s a minor issue. Also, Edge is rare in that the backseats are actually very comfortable for adults and easy to adjust. Nice ride and very comfortable and safe.
“I would definitely buy it again so hope it hangs around awhile. Very comfortable and great value — especially compared to much more expensive crossovers some friends have. They wish they had the Edge’s features!”
