Since last season’s auto shows, actual power ratings have been released for the new Corvette ZR1 and Cadillac CTS-V, revealing more power than GM’s own conservative estimates. The same has now happened for the 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP. Originally shown at the 2008 New York Auto Show with an estimated 402 hp and 402 pounds-feet of torque, the car now has received a certified rating of 415 hp and 415 pounds-feet of torque, which is 3% more power than was initially quoted. Enthusiasts everywhere will likely be excited when it goes on sale later this year, but we wonder if the slow-selling G8 will see any halo effect from this high-powered version entering the lineup.
