Nissan is making it easier for its electric vehicle owners to find and pay for public charging. The automaker has launched the Nissan Energy Charge Network, which allows owners of the Ariya SUV and future Nissan EVs to find charging stations, see charger availability and pay for their electrons within the MyNissan app.
Starting in November, owners using the app will be able to store a default payment method and tap a button to initiate a charging session when at a compatible EV charger for a seamless experience.
The new charging network is part of a partnership with multiple EV charging providers, including Electrify America, Shell Recharge, ChargePoint and EVgo. Nissan says the network allows for access to more than 90,000 chargers across the country and that future collaborations with other charging networks are planned.
Unfortunately, Leaf owners will not be able to take advantage of the app’s functionality, but they can continue to find public charging stations via the NissanConnect EV and Services app.
