New 2024 AT4X AEV Edition Is Most Extreme GMC Canyon Yet
Progress continually relegates the most to less than. First there was the GMC Canyon AT4 with a 2-inch lift and 31.5-inch tires. Then there was the AT4X with a 3-inch lift and 33-inch tires, plus assorted skid plates and locking front and rear differentials. Now, the AT4X AEV Edition debuts as the ultimate factory Canyon for the 2024 model year.

The 2024 Canyon AT4X AEV Edition comes with another 1.5 inches of lift and 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires on beadlock-capable AEV Salta wheels. There are also five high-strength boron-steel skid plates that help protect the radiator, steering components, fuel tank, transmission and transfer case, and rear differential. The mid-size pickup truck also gets unique fender flares and stamped-steel bumpers, the front ready to accept a winch and the rear with removable corners. Combined with 12.2 inches of ground clearance, its off-road armor gives the AT4X AEV Edition 38.2-degree approach, 26.0-degree departure and 26.9-degree breakover angles, respectively.
The new model year brings an updated Baja drive mode to the Canyon, as well. The drive mode, available on the AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition, offers a new launch control feature that adjusts engine speed and torque to match the driving surface; drivers simply press the brake and gas pedals at the same time, release the brake pedal, and get better acceleration both on- and off-road. In addition, all 2024 Canyons also can receive over-the-air software updates and features via GM’s new Ultifi end-to-end vehicle software platform.
Sales of the 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition will start later in the year. The brand hasn’t announced pricing yet, but based on the package’s premium on the larger Sierra pickup, we’d expect the AEV Canyon to start north of $60,000.
