More Standard Safety Tech for 2024 Chevrolet Equinox

Everyone with a Costco membership knows there are savings to be had buying in bulk. Maybe that’s the reason safety tech like blind spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alerts are exploding across mainstream automotive classes like compact SUVs. For the 2024 model year, the Chevrolet Equinox now has both safety technologies as part of a package, plus a couple of new color choices.

The Driver Confidence II Package — which includes a blind spot monitor with lane-change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors — is now standard on all variants but the LS, where it’s optional but gets only rear parking sensors. A power liftgate is standard on the LT, RS and Premier, with the Premier’s being hands-free (i.e., wave a foot under the bumper and it pops open). The three top trims also get standard heated front seats, while the Premier includes heated outboard rear seats and a heated steering wheel.
Trim Levels
For 2024, Chevrolet is again offering the Equinox in four trim levels: LS, LT, RS, and Premier. All are powered by a 175-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on all trims; all-wheel drive costs $1,600 extra. With FWD, the 2024 Equinox gets an EPA-rated 26/31/28 mpg city/highway/combined, while AWD versions get 24/30/26 mpg.
The Equinox LS rides on 17-inch wheels and includes keyless entry and starting, manually adjustable front seats, a manual liftgate, a six-speaker audio system, a 3.5-inch monochrome digital display in the instrument panel and a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Wi-Fi. Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all Equinoxes and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane departure steering assist, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams.
In addition to the aforementioned safety package and heated seats, the LT adds remote start, an eight-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control and a larger 4.2-inch color gauge cluster display. The RS includes all of this plus black 19-inch wheels and black exterior trim.
At the top of the range, the Premier steps back down to 18-inch wheels and gets heated and folding mirrors. Inside, it boasts leather, a wireless phone charger and Chevy’s Safety Alert Seat that vibrates the sides or whole bottom cushion to indicate to the driver the direction of a threat.
