Mercedes-Benz Recalls 143,000-Plus Vehicles Over Fuel Pumps

Mercedes-Benz is recalling more than 143,000 of its model-year 2021-23 vehicles over an issue that could cause a loss of drive power.

The issue concerns the fuel pump impeller, which may become deformed and come into contact with the fuel pump housing. As a result, the vehicle may lose propulsion unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash and injury.

As a remedy, dealers will replace the fuel pump for free. Mercedes will begin notifying owners Aug. 25, but those with further questions can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
