CARS.COM — What if you went to grab a pair of socks and found Christopher Walken sitting in your closet? In a new teaser for Kia’s upcoming Super Bowl commercial advertising the all-new 2016 Optima sedan, one character is confronted with just such a scenario.
In the 17-second teaser — titled “Walken Closet” (get it?) — a guy in a beige suit with an ostensibly beige life steps into his walk-in closet full of beige clothes and finds the iconically off-kilter actor seated in a chair. Holding up a pair of beige socks, Walken says to the man, “Richard, are you looking for these?”
The full 60-second commercial will air during Super Bowl 50 on Feb. 7, at which time perhaps we’ll get to find out what one indeed does upon discovering the star of “King of New York,” “The Deer Hunter” and “The Dead Zone” — as well as Fatboy Slim’s quintessentially Walkenesque “Weapon of Choice” video — among one’s suits and undergarments. Whatever happens, there’s almost sure to be plenty of abrupt pauses and random shifts in vocal inflection (and if we’re lucky, even some sick dance moves).
