Jeep is building anticipation for its new 2026 Cherokee with an unusual approach. Rather than close-cropped or dimly lit teaser photos, the brand is releasing full, clear shots — and now, one short video — of the upcoming SUV.
We still don’t know any hard facts about the next-generation Cherokee beyond that it will offer a hybrid powertrain. As we speculated when the brand released the initial images, that could possibly be the plug-in hybrid setup from the Dodge Hornet R/T and Alfa Romeo Tonale, which is good for up to 288 horsepower and 383 pounds-feet of torque, as well as an EPA-rated 33-mile electric range.
Fitting In With the Cool Jeeps
The new photo and video do, however, give us a clearer look at the side and rear of the all-new Cherokee and draw even closer ties to Jeep’s larger SUVs. The flared front and rear fenders lend it a muscular look like that of the Grand Cherokee, and the photo clearly shows off the beveled trailing edge of the rear window, which pays homage to the brand’s ritzy Wagoneer. There’s something interesting going on with the taillights, too, which appear to employ the organic light-emitting diode technology that’s beginning to enter the portfolios of some luxury automakers.
It appears the new Cherokee will be larger than its predecessor, with a flatter roof, longer wheelbase and more upright backlight that are likely to mean more room for rear-seat passengers and cargo alike — but those impressions are just based on highly scientific eyeballing the video. Jeep will officially reveal the all-new Cherokee in late 2025, so stay tuned for future details.
