Nissan infused the Frontier with a host of additional standard safety tech for the 2025 model year. For 2026, the mid-size pickup truck gets more luxury content to each of its trim levels and starts at $33,845 (all prices include $1,695 destination charge).

What’s New

LED headlights are now standard on the base S and SV trims, while the SV and all Pro variants gain a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The latter also now includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and remote start. Regardless of trim level, all four-wheel-drive Frontiers get a new drive-mode selector that tailors vehicle settings for improved control on varied terrain.

A new package developed by aftermarket supplier Roush Performance enhances the off-road-focused Pro-4X trim level with functional and style upgrades, and there’s a new Dark Armor Package similar to that available on the 2026 Rogue SUV; it’s available on the SV trim. However, while the Rogue’s Dark Armor option includes additional comfort features, the Frontier’s package just includes black wheels and matching exterior and interior trim.

New paint colors aren’t usually noteworthy, but the 2026 Frontier’s new hue is certainly noticeable: If you see a lime-green one, Nissan calls that color Citrus Strike.

Release Date and Pricing

The 2026 Nissan Frontier will go on sale later in the summer, with the Roush Pro-4X R arriving in the fall. Full pricing is as follows:

  • S: $33,845
  • SV: $37,885
  • Pro-X: $40,265
  • Pro-4X: $43,565
  • Roush Pro-4X R: $49,655

Four-wheel drive is available for $3,000 on the S and $3,300 on the SV; it’s standard on the Pro-4Xs and unavailable on the Pro-X.

A crew cab is standard on all 2026 Frontiers except the entry-level S, where it’s a $1,400 option; the S comes standard with a smaller backseat accessed via rear-hinged half doors that Nissan calls the King Cab. The King Cab is only available with a 6-foot bed; a 5-foot bed is standard on the SV and Pro-4X, with the longer bed available for an additional $500. The S crew cab and Pro-X are only available with the 5-foot bed.

Trim Levels

The Frontier S is a basic work truck, riding on 16-inch aluminum wheels and with manually adjustable cloth seats. It does, however, feature LED headlights and taillights, a damped tailgate to prevent slamming, push-button start, four speakers and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard safety equipment on the Frontier includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, rear parking sensors, automatic high beams and a driver-attention monitor.

In addition to the standard crew cab, the SV includes 17-inch wheels, upgraded cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, six speakers and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone mirroring.

While it’s not 4WD, the Pro-X is still aimed at desert running, with a raised ride height, Bilstein shock absorbers and all-terrain tires. Inside, it gets embroidered cloth upholstery, navigation and Wi-Fi. The Pro-4X is identically equipped, but with 4WD and additional skid plates. A 360-degree camera system is optional on the Pro-X and Pro-4X.

New for 2026, the Roush Pro-4X R features a 2-inch suspension lift with Ohlins remote-reservoir dampers and red-painted Roush upper front control arms. It’s distinguished from the rest of the Frontier lineup by titanium-colored paint on the grille, a skid plate, lower front bumper and wheels, as well as the requisite Roush R badging inside and out.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

While the competition from GM and Ford are powered by turbocharged four-cylinder engines and the Toyota Tacoma is available with either a gas-only or hybridized turbo four, the Frontier (along with the Honda Ridgeline and Jeep Gladiator) is sticking with naturally aspirated V-6 power. The Nissan’s six-cylinder is a 3.8-liter with 310 horsepower and 281 pounds-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Nissan says that with RWD, the Frontier returns the same EPA-rated 19/24/21 mpg city/highway/combined as the 2025 model (official EPA estimates for 2026 are not yet available). 4WD trucks are rated at 17/21/19 mpg except for the Pro-4X, which gets 16/20/18 mpg. No official fuel-economy ratings are yet available for the Roush Pro-4X R.
