  • Luxury off-roader with 349-horsepower, twin-turbocharged V-6 engine
  • Starts at $66,935 (all prices include $1,450 destination charge)

With a sturdy truck-based frame, a powerful twin-turbocharged V-6 engine and full-time four-wheel drive, the Lexus GX 550 is a three-row mid-size SUV with a well-earned reputation as a capable enough off-road rig. But as a Lexus, it also includes a long list of luxury features, including heated and ventilated seats and a Mark Levinson sound system. For 2026, the Lexus GX 550 starts at $66,935 (all prices include $1,450 destination).

Trim Levels and Safety Features

The entry-level Premium trim establishes a solid luxury foundation for the GX 550. It rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and features LED headlights, a moonroof and a power liftgate. Inside are synthetic leather upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation, memory settings for the driver’s seat, ambient lighting, a 10-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a 14-inch touchscreen with navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Lexus Safety System 3.0+ is standard on the 2026 GX 550. This safety suite includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, oncoming traffic alert, emergency steering assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering steering and road-sign recognition. Blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking are also standard.

The Premium+ adds LED foglights, a hands-free power liftgate, heated steering wheel, heated outboard second-row seats, a power-folding third-row seat and wireless phone charging. Heated second-row captain’s chairs are optional on the Premium+, Luxury and Luxury+. A 360-degree camera system is standard on the Premium+ trim level and above.

Stepping up to the Luxury trim adds 22-inch wheels, genuine leather upholstery, 10-way massaging power-adjustable front seats and second-row window shades. The Luxury+ includes everything from the Premium+ as well as adaptive dampers, power-operated running boards, a panoramic moonroof and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.

New for this generation of GX, the Overtrail trims lean into the SUV’s popularity with the off-roading and overlanding crowd with a 1-inch lift, locking rear differential, disconnecting anti-roll bars for greater suspension articulation and 18-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires. Other backcountry gear includes standard prewired auxiliary switches, an onboard air compressor, windshield wiper de-icers and headlight washers. Lexus’ Multi-Terrain Select system offers different drive modes for various off-road surfaces. The Overtrail trims are only available with a second-row bench seat and no third row to allow for owners to take more gear on adventures.

In terms of luxury trimmings, the Overtrail mirrors the entry-level Premium but also includes adaptive dampers, LED foglights, a heated steering wheel and a 360-degree camera system with additional modes to help wheel placement off-road. The Overtrail+ adds most of the content from the Luxury+ except the power running boards and panoramic moonroof. Both Overtrail trims can be optioned without the standard moonroof for worry-free rooftop mounting of tents, cargo boxes and other accessories.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

Every 2026 GX is powered by a 349-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 that generates 379 pounds-feet of torque; it’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard full-time 4WD with a locking center differential. Lexus says the 2026 GX returns the same 15/21/17 mpg city/highway/combined as the 2025 model (official EPA fuel-economy ratings are not yet available for 2026).

An integrated trailer-brake controller is standard across the line. The Premium and Overtrail trims can tow more than 9,000 pounds (the precise amount depends on options), while the Luxury grades are rated to tow between 7,601 and 8,020 pounds.
