GM to Phase Out GM Goodwrench

Currently, Goodwrench is the full-service provider for GM dealerships with Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC franchises and for the recently deceased Pontiac and Hummer brands.

Replacing Goodwrench will be the individual service departments for each remaining core brand at GM: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac. They will have names like “Chevrolet Certified Service.” According to GM, this act should strengthen the brand image of each remaining nameplate as well as disassociate the brands from the – some would say tarnished – General Motors name. GM says that customers should expect the same level of service once received at Goodwrench, including low prices and certified technicians.

Pontiac and Hummer should continue to receive the same level of service despite the end of Goodwrench, said GM spokeswomen Pamela Flores. Owners of vehicles from the two defunct brands should be able to get them serviced at the closest GM dealership, and GM-certified parts for each brand should continue to be available.

Due to GM’s size, Goodwrench was one of the largest automotive servicers in the country, with more than 80,000 professionally certified technicians.
