CARS.COM — The Genesis GV80 Concept, appearing at the 2017 New York International Auto Show, isn’t a production-ready SUV — its fuel-cell plug-in electric powertrain is still too impractical for a mass-market SUV, and its interior features include lush appointments and individualized entertainment zones for all four of its passengers. What the GV80 Concept is, though, is a good-looking and muscular SUV that indicates Genesis is preparing to capitalize on the booming SUV market.
Its lines and styling wouldn’t look out of place wearing any luxury automaker’s badge. There are still some concept touches here outside, however: Twenty-three-inch mesh-alloy wheels wear a webbing motif that extends to the B- and C-pillars, but aside from those touches — and the near-ubiquitous cameras in place of side mirrors — the GV80 Concept is a glimpse of a not-too-distant future.
