Ford Recalls Nearly 102,000 Taurus Sedans for Door Trim

Ford is recalling nearly 102,000 examples from the last generation of its Taurus sedan over an issue with certain door trim, which may detach.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2016-19 Taurus sedans. During vehicle assembly, the adhesion of the B-pillar trim applique may have been incomplete. As a result, the trim may separate from the top of the front doors when entering or exiting the vehicle, and drivers may hear wind noise or rattling while the vehicle is in motion. If the B-pillar trim applique detaches while the vehicle is in motion, it could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect the trim and repair or replace it, as necessary, for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the issue are expected to be mailed Sept. 22; a second letter will be sent out once the final remedy is available, which Ford anticipates will be sometime in December.
