Ford is recalling more than 115,500 examples from its Super Duty truck lineup over an issue with the steering column that may cause the vehicles to lose control.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2020-21 Super Duty F-250, F-350 and F-450 trucks. These vehicles may have been built with a steering column upper shaft that may detach from the steering column and result in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
As a fix, dealers will inspect the steering column and repair or replace the upper shaft, as necessary, for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the issue are expected to be mailed Oct. 6; a second letter will be sent out once the final remedy is available, which Ford anticipates will be sometime in December. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25S94), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
