CARS.COM — Summer road-trip season is in full swing, with families hitting the road in search of fun and adventure. Many times, taking along our furry friends is mandatory — they’re just as much a part of the family as the kids, right?

Taking your pets along with you can be messy and a bit unsafe, but some automakers have been working to provide pet travel accessories that make car rides with animals easier, more fun, or even just a little more stylish. From seat covers, to portable puppy beds and safety harnesses, to car seats for pets, there are plenty of options available to pet owners who want their furry friends to be cozy and safe on the road. Here are five of our favorite pet accessories offered by automakers and where you can find them.

Subaru Forester Pet Separator

The best way to keep your pet (and you) safe in an accident is to keep it contained, preventing it from becoming a projectile in the event of a collision. Subaru has tons of pet accessories from collars to T-shirts for dog owners, but their safety gear is important too. Once installed in your late-model Forester, this accessory will keep Spot safely in the car’s cargo area.

Volvo Dog Gate and Load Compartment Divider

Similar to the Subaru system but even more secure and confining, Volvo offers an addition to its own foldable and collapsible cargo divider system that creates a cage to keep your four-legged friend secure. Available for the V wagons and XC SUVs, it requires a couple of extra components to be installed, as well.

Chrysler Pet Kennel

If cages seem a little too harsh for you, Chrysler’s got a more pet-friendly idea — the Mopar Pet Kennel. This fits in a number of different vehicles and has a soft exterior with pockets, doors, handles and tie-down straps for a non-slip hold. Mini Dog Frisbee

All kinds of auto-branded car accessories and merchandise are available for pets, but this one looks like fun. It’s a Frisbee toy in the shape of a Mini wheel, complete with squeaky parts.

Mercedes-Benz Ceramic Logo Bowl

Maybe your pup is a bit posh? Taking them along on a trip means feeding them on the road and, while the Mercedes-Benz Ceramic Pet Bowl isn’t necessarily travel-friendly, there’s no reason you can’t pack it in with the other luggage and pet gear, and bring it out at rest stops for quick meals and drinks. It comes in small or medium.
