Nineteen child-safety seat models, including Eddie Bauer and Cosco 3-in-1 seats, have been recalled by Dorel Juvenile Group, the company that makes them. The problem with the seats is related to a strap that may loosen during use, leading to an increased risk of injury in a crash. The company says no accidents or injuries were reported and that the recall is voluntary.
Owners of the recalled seats, produced between Nov. 1, 2003, and Dec. 31, 2005, will be sent a repair kit to fix the problem; the seats cannot be returned to retailers. The total number of recalled seats in the U.S. has not been reported, but the figure for Canada alone is more than 300,000 seats.
