Best Luxury Car of 2025
Winner: 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70
- Starting price range (all prices include destination charge): $68,400-$75,200
- Estimated electric driving range: 236 miles
- Estimated combined efficiency: 91 mpg-equivalent
- Base powertrain: 429 horsepower with 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery; dual-motor all-wheel drive
The soaring popularity of the general luxury segment is the glittering shore against the crashing wave of mainstream electrification. It’s a peanut-butter-and-chocolate situation — hey, you got your preternaturally quiet and smooth powertrain in my luxury car! Well, you got your leather and wood trim in my electric vehicle! At the center of this are supremely satisfying cars like the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70, our pick for Cars.com’s Best Luxury Car of 2025.
Much of this tastiness comes down to the Electrified GV70’s uh, electrified powertrain. A 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery pack feeds dual 160-kilowatt motors for a combined 429 horsepower and stonkin’ 516 pounds-feet of torque; competitors may offer more output, but none possess the Electrified GV70’s mix of electric performance and Genesis’ class-leading interiors, presentation and materials.
The Electrified GV70 makes up for its perceived middle-road range with strong DC fast-charging capability; Genesis claims the battery can go from 10% to 80% state of charge in just 18 minutes in optimal conditions. And, if you’re hoping to charge more than the car itself, the Electrified GV70’s vehicle-to-load functionality can juice appliances and glampgrounds with 3.6 kW of power.
The Electrified GV70 also proves Genesis hasn’t unplugged from its continued stylistic campaign, riding the fine silk thread between elegance and sporting aggression with a glittering, cascading grille matrix and signature split headlight design against the exterior’s subtly muscular backdrop. Inside, top-shelf materials like metal, crystal, leather and microfiber trim offer finer digs than most cockpits under $100,000.
It’s only as good as it drives, and it drives great. We’ve found the Electrified GV70 to be one of the most satisfying on-road EV experiences you can have, partly due to it eschewing some of the annoyances found in the competition. The ultra-comfortable ride contrasts with the GV70’s more-than-capable dynamic manners thanks in part to the trick camera-based Road Preview adaptive suspension and Genesis’ established skill at chassis tuning.
All this comes at a starting price of $68,300 — a price that slides well under the competition while maintaining the cohesive blend of luxury and performance we’ve come to expect and enjoy from the Korean luxury brand. It’s for these reasons and more that the 2025 Genesis Electrified GV70 is a repeat winner and our Best Luxury Car of 2025.

2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten: Finalist
- Starting price range: $89,070
- EPA-estimated combined fuel economy: 17 mpg
- Base powertrain: 540-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder; eight-speed automatic transmission; full-time four-wheel drive
A full-size truck? As a finalist for our Luxury Car of the Year? You betcha. All it takes is a few minutes in the cabin of the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten to realize that the new range-topping trim from the American truck brand rivals cockpits from some of the biggest luxury brands on the planet.
The dark-blue and light-gray interior is finished in quilted leather with contrast stitching, complemented by suede material on the headliner, roof pillars and sun visors as well as 24-way power leather thrones that are heated, ventilated and have a massage function. Other interior jewelry like the textured metal trim, knurled badging and crystal-like motif on the gear selector wouldn’t look out of place on a top-spec Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and nor would the 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere sound system.
All this on a truck that does all of the, ah, truck things that you could ever throw at it. With a max towing capacity of 9,150 pounds and full-time four-wheel drive, the Tungsten can get dirty with the best of ‘em. Better still is its ride and refinement with its four-corner air suspension; there’s an overall smoothness and comfort that belie the truck’s size and purpose. It’s for all these reasons that the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten is a well-deserving finalist for our Best Luxury Car of 2025 award.

2025 Lexus LC 500: Finalist
- Starting price range: $101,100 (coupe), $108,300 (convertible)
- EPA-estimated combined fuel economy: 18 mpg
- Base powertrain: 471-hp, 5.0-liter V-8; 10-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive
Even eight model years into its run, we just can’t quit the divine Lexus LC 500. That’s not for continual updates and refreshes, either; with a few exceptions, the 2025 LC 500 is the same car we first saw as a 2018 model. We couldn’t be happier, though, as that means we’ve got the same stunning, evocative design, indulgent leather-lined interior and fabulous 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V-8.
Best thought of as an Aston Martin by way of Lexus, the LC 500 is one of the most exotic cars available under the $200,000 mark from both a mechanical and aesthetic perspective. Beyond the prime materials like rich leather and a healthy use of real metal trim, the interior is sculptural, with dramatic, diving lines and flowing surfaces that is a significant departure from interiors found elsewhere in the Lexus lineup.
The LC 500 has always been one of the best and most interesting grand tourers on the market, but Lexus’ decision to replace the awful touchpad-based infotainment interface with a traditional touchscreen for the 2024 model year elevated the LC from great to exceptional. Modest changes for 2025 indicate Lexus might be of our opinion that, much like a cellared bottle of wine that needs its cork wetted occasionally, the LC’s impressive enough to keep building with just minor updates from year to year.
We couldn’t agree more, and that’s why the LC 500 is a finalist for our Best Luxury Car of 2025 award. Long live the LC 500.
