Audi Prologue Allroad Concept Debuts in Shanghai (21 Photos)

The Audi Prologue series of concept cars is a glimpse at the luxury automaker’s future styling and technology direction that debuted on the Audi Prologue Concept coupe at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show and then manifested in wagon form as the Audi Prologue Avant. Now Audi shows us an all-terrain Allroad variant of the Avant with its latest look into the future at the 2015 Shanghai auto show.

Showcasing the same edgy look with pronounced fenders and an aggressive roofline, a 3-inch higher body is the most distinguishable visual difference between the Allroad and Avant concept. Underneath, however, Audi took the Allroad to the next level with a plug-in hybrid system producing a combined 734 horsepower through the use of a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 and electric drive system. The Allroad concept is good for up to 33.6 miles of electric range and zero-to-60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
The Allroad can recharge via the charge port as well as through wireless charging with Audi Wireless Charging, which the automaker is developing for production use. Making up the rest of the mechanicals are Quattro all-wheel drive with all-wheel steering, 20-inch carbon ceramic brakes – yes, 20-inch brakes – housed inside 22-inch wheels. The Allroad rides on an adaptive air suspension with adjustable dampers so that ride quality can range from comfortable cruising to tight handling.
Inside, an array of multimedia touch-screens span the length of the front dashboard. These screens allow passengers to load a playlist or navigation destination and with a swipe can send that information to the driver. Rear passengers are equally plugged in and have individual seats with their own tablets as well as a center touch-screen for rear climate control and media function. The interior is brimming with high-quality displays as well as generous use of aluminum elements and open-pore wood and leather highlights that are an appropriate extension of Audi’s current design philosophy.
