With the reborn Integra finding a degree of showroom success that eluded its predecessor, the ILX, Acura is preparing another entry-level model. To be called the ADX, the upcoming compact will slot below the RDX in the brand’s SUV lineup.
While many automakers backpedal from their all-in commitments to electric vehicles, Acura and its parent company Honda are maintaining a conservative course. Each has introduced just one EV so far, the ZDX and Prologue, respectively. Both were co-developed with GM — and look like it, with obvious GM interior designs and secondary controls.
The 2025 Acura ADX, then, will stick with fossil fuels — at least at launch. Acura has provided no powertrain details yet other than referring to its newest offering as turbocharged. Depending on the ADX’s positioning and pricing, we could see that meaning a detuned version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder from the RDX, which makes 272 horsepower, though the 190-hp 1.5-liter that powers the 2025 Honda CR-V seems a more likely candidate.
The ADX may be entry-level, but Acura will still offer plenty of premium features, with a panoramic moonroof, Bang & Olufsen audio system and ventilated front seats all promised as options and likely bundled into the top trim level. We won’t wait long to find out. Auto-show season is right around the corner, and Acura says the 2025 ADX will debut sometime in the fall.
