As SUV popularity continues to soar, sedan sales continue to fall, and the latest casualty is the Acura TLX. The brand has announced that it will discontinue production of the compact sports sedan and cited slow sales as a reason.
“Acura will conclude production of the TLX performance sedan this month to better align with the evolving needs of our customers and the changing landscape of the automotive industry,” Acura said in a statement.
The TLX was last redesigned for the 2021 model year and got some minor updates for 2024. In 2024, Acura sold just 7,478 TLX models, down from 16,731 models in 2023. The TLX was introduced in 2014 for model-year 2015, and at its peak in 2015, the brand sold 47,080 units of the sports sedan.
What’s next for the brand? Acura plans to refocus on SUVs with its new ADX subcompact SUV and upcoming all-electric RSX SUV. Its remaining sedan, the Integra (and its sport-oriented Type S variant), will continue for the 2026 model year.
