The Lexus LC’s competitors include faster cars and those with rich racing pedigrees, but none may be as visually striking as the big Lexus two-door. For 2024, the brand has made just a few minor tweaks to its flagship grand tourer, including one small one with huge ramifications: Lexus has banished the mouse from all variants and made a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system standard.
Lexus has finally ditched the much-maligned Remote Touchpad of old. Voice control, cloud-based navigation incorporating the latest traffic and routing information, and Google assistance with points-of-interest data also bring the Lexus infotainment system up to date.
Other tech updates include standard Safety System+ 2.5, the latest generation of Lexus’ suite of driver assistance and collision avoidance systems. It includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, emergency steering assist and a system to keep you from making an ill-advised left turn in front of oncoming traffic. The package also bundles adaptive cruise control, lane departure steering assist and road-sign recognition.
Two new colors join the palette for 2024 LC coupes and convertibles: Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0 and Copper Crest. There’s also a new interior hue, Dark Rose, which is a lovely deep magenta. Lexus shuffled wheel offerings among the hybrid and V-8 models, and for the first time, its Bespoke Build program is available with the convertible, allowing customers free reign with exterior and interior colors — including a new blue and white interior option — as well as wheel, roof and spoiler choices.
Mechanically, nothing major changes with the LC for 2024. The coupe is still available as the LC 500 with a 471-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8 engine or the LC 500h with a 354-hp hybrid system that combines a 3.5-liter V-6, two electric motors and a battery pack; the LC 500 convertible is only available with the V-8. A 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard; the hybrid comes with a four-speed automatic.
