An issue involving loose cylinder-head screws has prompted a recall of more than 89,400 Audi Q5 SUVs.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2022-24 Q5 and Q5 Sportback SUVs. The issue is with the cylinder-head-cover screws, which may loosen and allow oil to leak out of the holes. If the oil comes in contact with hot parts of the engine, a fire could occur, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.

To resolve the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the screws, as necessary, for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 8, but those with further questions in the meantime can contact Audi customer service at 800-253-2834 (Audi’s number for this recall is 15ZK), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
