79,000-Plus Jeep SUVs Recalled for Failing Backup Cameras
The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been one of the brand’s most popular focus of recalls in 2024 (and as owners, we ought to know), and the latest safety missive from parent company Stellantis furthers that trend, with some 79,300-plus Grand Cherokees and related Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers recalled for failing backup cameras.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2024 Grand Cherokees, extended-wheelbase Grand Cherokee Ls, Wagoneers and Grand Wagoneers. The issue concerns incorrect software in the rearview camera module that may cause the rearview camera image not to display, decreasing the driver’s visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
As a remedy, dealers will update the rearview camera module software for free. Stellantis will notify owners Jan. 21, 2025, but those with further questions can contact Stellantis at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ number for this recall is D5B), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
