Affected vehicles include model-year 2017-24 Alfa Romeo Giulia sedans, model-year 2018-25 Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUVs, model-year 2024 Fiat 500e electric hatchbacks, and model-year 2019-23 Fiat 500X and Jeep Renegade SUVs. The issue stems from a disrupted connector on the seat belt buckle’s switch sensor, which may affect conduction on the connectors of the seat wiring and buckle. This prevents the front-seat airbag from deploying correctly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
As a fix, dealers will repair the connection for free. Owner notification letters will be sent Aug. 22, but those with further questions can contact the brands’ parent automaker Stellantis at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ number for this recall is 82B), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
