2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro 4Matic+: Pro Means Faster

Sales of the all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT have only just begun, and the GT43 and GT63 S E Performance — until now, the newest members of the family — aren’t even at dealerships yet. But Mercedes-AMG is back at the bellows, stoking anticipation for its new-generation supercar with a track-focused variant called the GT63 Pro 4Matic+.

Piece by Piece

Most of that mouthful of an appellation should be familiar to Benz fans; Pro is the only new word in there, and most of the GT63 Pro will also be familiar to anyone who’s keeping up with the rollout of AMG’s second-generation GT coupe. It’s powered by the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine as the regular GT63, here tweaked to generate 26 more horsepower and 37 additional pounds-feet of torque, for totals of 603 and 627, respectively. Mercedes claims no improvement in the GT63’s acceleration from 0-60 mph, which remains at 3.1 seconds.

Instead of acceleration, the Pro is intended to provide a more intense driving experience and superior track performance. To that end, AMG enhanced the GT63’s cooling package, adding outboard radiators in the nose. Electric pumps circulate coolant through the radiators to cool the all-wheel-drive coupe’s front and rear differentials, as well as the transfer case. Revised vanes and cover plates also direct more cooling air to the brakes. The AMG carbon-ceramic setup, optional on the non-Pro GT63, is standard on the Pro; it clamps 16.5-inch front rotors with six-piston calipers and 14.2-inch rear discs with single-piston binders.

AMG didn’t only modify the airflow around and through the GT63 for enhanced cooling; other revisions improve the coupe’s aerodynamic performance. The outboard air intakes in the front end are larger, and additional air deflectors at the height of the front and rear axles serve to accelerate airflow underneath the car. As with the carbon-ceramic brakes, the AMG Aerodynamics Package, which features a fixed rear wing, is standard, as is the active panel below the front of the car that lowers at speed. All told, the changes are said to reduce lift on the front axle by 66 pounds and provide an additional 33 pounds of downforce on the rear.

The GT63’s AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package is also standard on the Pro and includes a front splitter, rocker-panel trim, a rear diffuser and a rear wing in exposed carbon fiber. Other than the unique front end, the matte-gray 21-inch wheels are one way to tell the Pro from the regular GT63. On the Pro, they wear Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires; Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R extreme-performance tires are available. Inside, the AMG Performance seats and steering wheel are included.

Availability and Pricing

The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro 4Matic+ will go on sale in 2025. The automaker isn’t hinting at pricing yet, but we will. The 2024 GT55 costs $136,050, and the GT63 starts at $177,050 (all prices include destination); adding all the options that come standard on the Pro brings the price to about $200,000. We’d wager this one will start around $240,000.
