Kia debuted its EV6 for the 2022 model year, and the electric SUV has pretty much carried over — until now. The refreshed 2025 Kia EV6 is making its debut at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show, and updates include new front and rear styling, bigger standard and available battery packs, a revised interior and additional tech features.

New Looks

When the EV6 debuted, it looked unlike anything in the Kia lineup. For 2025, the brand is bringing it more into the family with some styling cues designed to match other Kia models. Highlights include the Kia’s signature Star Map lighting for the model’s new headlights and daytime running lights. Also, the front bumper wears sharper angles, and the character lines on the hood extend to the air intake. The overall look is more sporty and dynamic than the outgoing version.
In back, the Star Map light design continues for the taillights; other design highlights include a wider, winglike bumper, more body side cladding and new wheel designs ranging from 19 to 21 inches in size. Kia says the new EV6 is 0.6 inch longer in overall length, as well.
Lastly, the EV6’s flush door handles with automatic deployment are now standard, and its charge port (excluding the EV6 GT) has been moved to the left rear fender and is now compatible with Tesla’s North American Charging Standard.
Cabin and Features

Inside, the standard curved dual 12.3-inch display that integrates the instrument cluster and center screen returns, but other parts of the cabin have been lightly revised. New features include updated interior lighting, a D-shaped steering wheel and a revised center console with a new finish. Kia also added an electric tilt/telescoping steering column as well as more sound absorption materials for a quieter cabin.
Tech updates for 2025 include the move to Kia’s next-gen Connected Car Navigation Cockpit operating system with faster processing power and over-the-air update functionality. The EV6 also gets an updated version of the Digital Key system, which allows owners to use their compatible smart devices or an NFC-enabled smart card as virtual vehicle keys.
Larger Batteries
For 2025, the EV6 will be available in Light (rear-wheel drive only), Light Long Range (RWD or all-wheel drive), Wind (RWD or AWD), GT-Line (RWD or AWD) and GT (AWD) trims.
The EV6’s standard battery size increases for 2025. A 63-kilowatt-hour battery is now standard in the Light trim; it’s paired with a rear motor producing 167 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet of torque. Kia did not mention the trim’s range, but last year’s version was good for an EPA estimated 232 miles with its 58-kWh battery.
A larger 84-kWh battery pack is available and paired with a rear motor making 225 hp; it makes the same 258 pounds-feet of torque. Kia says this version has a targeted all-electric range of 319 miles in the Light Long Range, Wind and GT-Line trims with RWD. That’s up from last year’s 310 mile EPA estimate with the 77.4-kWh battery.
The more powerful AWD option combines two electric motors to deliver a total of 320 hp and 446 pounds-feet of torque, and the top-line GT trim makes 601 hp and 545 pounds-feet of torque. With standard GT mode activated, the GT’s output jumps to 641 hp and 568 pounds-feet of torque (up from 576 hp and 545 pounds-feet from the 2024 model).
Also new this year, the Long Range variant with the 84-kWh battery has an improved towing rating of 2,700 pounds and automatically detects trailer weight to adjust the distance-to-empty range.
On-Sale Date
In other news, production for the new 2025 EV6 will move from South Korea; excluding the EV6 GT variant, it will be assembled at Kia’s plant in West Point, Ga., alongside the larger EV9 SUV.
Kia says the new EV6 will go on sale during the first half of 2025. Stay tuned for information about pricing closer to its on-sale date.
