2024 Toyota Tundra 1794 Limited Edition: Leather-Laden, Greater Ground Clearance

Toyota picked none other than the State Fair of Texas to reveal its cowboy-approved 2024 Tundra 1794 Limited Edition pickup truck. The name is a nostalgic nod to the founding date of the ranch that now serves as the site of Toyota’s San Antonio plant where the Tundra and Sequoia SUV are assembled. While Toyota already has a 1794 Edition in the Tundra lineup, the 1794 Limited Edition gets a round of interior upgrades, including a whole lot of fancy leather, plus mechanical tweaks to separate itself from its full-size pickup kinfolk.

Starting with exterior modifications, the 1794 Limited Edition rides on a suspension that’s lifted 1.1 inches and comes equipped with 2.5-inch Fox internal bypass shocks with piggyback reservoirs. At each corner are 20-inch matte-black-painted alloy wheels wrapped with all-terrain tires for further go-anywhere capability.
A dark-chrome grille, black exterior accents and unique “1794 Limited Edition” stamped rear tailgate are also included. Buyers will have a choice of four exterior colors: Wind Chill Pearl, Smoked Mesquite, Blueprint or Midnight Black Metallic.

Inside is where Toyota really had fun. To denote which one you’re driving, a numbered dash plaque is positioned on the passenger side of the dashboard. Toyota also teamed up with Saddleback Leather, which supplies leather goods to the Texas Rangers baseball team, to craft a premium leather interior that looks hand-sewn. While you won’t find a catcher’s mitt in either row of seating, the 1794 Limited Edition has attractive tan leather covering the seats, dashboard, door panels and front center console. A clever touch are the leather saddlebags attached to the back of each front seat; they’re opened and closed using a metal buckle and riveted leather straps. Also included are accessories like an overnight bag, toolkit roll, key glove, leather-bound owner’s manual and small leather pouch.
Under the hood of the 1794 Limited Edition is the optional gas-electric powertrain available in the regular Tundra. Called the i-Force Max, it combines a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor and a 1.87-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The total output of 437 horsepower and 583 pounds-feet of torque is sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive, the CrewMax crew cab and a 5.5-foot cargo bed are standard.
Toyota says the 2024 Tundra 1794 Limited Edition, of which only 1,500 examples will be built, arrives at dealerships in the spring of 2024. One thing not yet mentioned, however, is pricing, which will be revealed closer to the truck’s official on-sale date. For reference, the 2024 Tundra 1794 Edition in the same mechanical configuration starts at $71,255 (including $1,850 destination fee).
