2024 Subaru Forester Sticks to Its Proven All-Wheel-Drive Formula, Pricing Starts at $28,190

The Subaru Forester rolls into the 2024 model year with only minor improvements, yet it remains highly competitive in a crowded field that includes competitors like the Ford Bronco Sport, Nissan Rogue, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson. Subaru has announced pricing details for the compact five-seat SUV, which comes standard with all-wheel drive: The base Forester will have a starting price of $28,190 (all prices include a $1,295 destination fee), up $470 compared to the current price of the entry-level 2023 Forester.

Trim Levels
Known for having solid value and AWD on every model, the 2024 Forester is available in six trims: Base, Premium, Sport, Wilderness, Limited and Touring. No matter the chosen trim, every Forester is equipped with a 182-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
Standard features in the Base model include a 6.5-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a USB port, a four-speaker stereo, cloth upholstery, automatic climate control, keyless entry and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. Also standard is Subaru EyeSight, a suite of active-safety features including automatic emergency braking, lane departure steering assist and adaptive cruise control with lane-centering steering. Automatic high-beam headlights and a rear-seat reminder are also included.
The Premium trim adds a panoramic moonroof, heated front seats, second-row air vents, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, Subaru X-Mode with hill descent control and a six-speaker stereo with satellite radio. Blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, a power liftgate and two rear USB ports are offered as part of a $1,165 package. New for 2024, the Premium also gets standard LED foglights and a black rear roof spoiler.
Snuggled in the middle of the Forester lineup, the Sport rides on black 18-inch alloy wheels and has a slightly sportier exterior design with black exterior trim. Inside, you’ll find dark-gray cloth upholstery with orange accent stitching, as well as shift paddles for the transmission. For $1,645, the Sport can be upgraded with an 8-inch touchscreen, a Harman Kardon audio system, a power liftgate and reverse automatic emergency braking.
The Wilderness adds extra off-road capability and a tougher appearance. It comes with 9.2 inches of ground clearance, Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires, unique front and rear bumpers, larger black plastic wheel-arch cladding, a front underbody skid plate, a 180-degree front-view monitor, water-repellent upholstery and dual-function X-Mode with three terrain modes plus a low-speed gradient control. For adventure seekers who plan on towing, the Wilderness has a maximum capacity of 3,000 pounds — double the 1,500 pound max towing capacity of other Forester trims.
Taking a turn toward a less outdoorsy image, the Limited variant comes with leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, a power liftgate, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert and 18-inch alloy wheels. An available $1,695 package adds navigation, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon stereo with a 576-watt amplifier, a heated steering wheel and reverse automatic emergency braking. New for 2024, the Limited comes standard with black geometric-textured foglight covers.
Sitting at the pinnacle of the lineup, the Touring trim adds standard navigation, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, a driver drowsiness monitor and gesture control for climate controls.
