The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is entering its fourth year of production virtually unchanged for 2023. The brand is using the 2023 model year to add one new piece of equipment and a slightly higher base price of $35,755 (all pricing includes a $1,295 destination charge).

The Atlas Cross Sport retains its sporty exterior styling. For 2023, Volkswagen is making one minor equipment change: The SE with Technology trim now gets the 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro gauge cluster standard.

Standard equipment for all trims includes heated front seats, leatherette seats, LED lighting, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, automatic emergency braking, a blind spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alert. Heated rear seats, leather seats, 20- or 21-inch wheels and a hands-free rear hatch are available. Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive semi-autonomous driver-assistance technology suite is also optional and includes lane-centering steering, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and emergency assist.

A 235-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder continues as the Atlas Cross Sport’s base engine. Meanwhile, a 3.6-liter V-6 that makes 276 hp is available in the SE with Technology and SEL trims; it comes standard in the SEL Premium R-Line. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 2023 Atlas Cross Sport with the four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive gets an EPA-rated 21/25/23 mpg city/highway/combined, with all-wheel-drive versions losing one mile in all three categories at 20/24/22 mpg. V-6-equipped variants with both FWD and AWD come in the lowest at 18/24/20 mpg.
