Following a major recall for its smaller Sportage SUV over faulty side curtain airbags in December, Kia has issued a new recall over second-row side airbags, this time for nearly 32,000 Kia Telluride three-row SUVs.
The issue affects model-year 2023 Tellurides only. Due to a manufacturing error, the wire harness for the second-row seat side airbags may become damaged, causing them not to deploy and increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
To fix the issue, dealers will inspect and replace or secure the airbag wire harnesses, as necessary, for free. Kia will begin notifying owners Feb. 28, but those with further questions can call the brand at 800-333-4542 (Kia’s number for this recall is SC262), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
