The Kia Rio continues to serve as the automaker’s gateway model into the compact car class. While the Rio mostly carries over from the outgoing model, Kia still decided to make some minor updates to its pricing ladder, with the base 2023 Rio LX starting at $17,645 (all pricing includes a $1,095 destination charge).
The 2023 Rio lineup is still split into two body styles — a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback — with both versions offering the dynamic design language that Kia has come to be known for in recent years. All Rio trims are powered by a 120-horsepower, 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. The setup allows the Rio to get an EPA-estimated 36 mpg in combined fuel economy, making it competitive against rivals like the 2022 Hyundai Accent, 2023 Toyota Corolla and 2023 Honda Civic.

In addition to its impressive fuel economy, the 2023 Rio also comes with an array of standard equipment such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and cruise control. A Technology Package ($1,800) adds a suite of additional safety features including lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, a driver attention monitor and LED headlights for improved nighttime visibility.
