Fully redesigned for the new model year, the 2023 GMC Canyon features new styling inside and out, along with enhanced capability and upgraded tech. The mid-size pickup truck also comes with a starting price of $38,395 (all pricing includes the $1,495 destination fee).
For 2023, the Canyon’s exterior styling has been completely updated across the lineup with a new grille, LED headlights and a widened track. GMC has also added the rugged AT4X variant, which features a 30-inch off-road grille light bar, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a front skid plate and an Edition 1 tailgate badge. The AT4 and AT4X variants also come standard with other off-road-focused upgrades, including red tow hooks, a unique suspension, and electronic locking front and rear differentials. The AT4 gets a 2-inch lift, while the AT4X gets a 3-inch lift. The luxury-focused Denali trim gets a chrome grille and 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. All Canyons are available only as a crew cab with a short box.
The interior has also been revamped for the 2023 model year. All trims now get an 11.3-inch infotainment system that features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The Canyon also gets a fully digital instrument cluster; the Elevation and AT4 trims come with an 8-inch display, while the Denali and AT4X have a bigger 11-inch display. The rest of the cabin benefits from higher quality materials and mirrors — some of the updates we first saw on its platform mate, the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado.
Performance for all 2023 Canyon variants comes from a 310-horsepower, turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Elevation model, with four-wheel drive adding $3,300; 4WD is standard on the rest of the Canyon lineup.
