It wasn’t too long ago that GM announced an approximate $6,000 price drop for both the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV hatchback and Bolt EUV SUV. The decrease helped make the duo a potent value for new electric vehicle buyers and allowed them to be one of the least expensive ways to get into EV ownership. However, GM is once again raising the price for both models slightly, citing industry- and production-related challenges as reasons for the move.

The 2023 Bolt EV now has a base price of $27,495, which is up $900, while the Bolt EUV sees its price creep up $600 to $28,795 (pricing includes $995 destination charge). Chevrolet spokesperson Cody Williams said the increase was due to “Due to ongoing industry-related pricing pressures,” though it could also simply be read as an increase typical of model years as they turn over.

The bump up does little to dampen what the pair offers to buyers in regards to features and technology. That includes GM’s Super Cruise advanced semi-autonomous self-driving system available on the Bolt EUV Premier, as well as standard equipment such as an 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and the Chevy Safety Assist suite that includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure steering assist and forward collision alert standard.

The increase comes a few days after the Bolt lineup regained eligibility for the full $7,500 federal EV tax credit due to the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act. Chevrolet has not yet updated its online configurator tool with the new pricing structure, but Williams said new orders as of Jan. 2 will reflect the increase.
