2020 Subaru Outback Video: It's What's Inside That Counts

From the exterior, it’s pretty hard to tell it’s been redesigned. That’s a formula Subaru also used with the new 2019 Forester, which also got modest styling changes outside but big changes underneath and inside.

In terms of big changes, for starters, the redesigned Outback moves to the stiffer and more capable Subaru Global Platform underpinning other new Subarus. It also gets a nicer interior for 2020, with upgraded materials and more tech features.

There’s also some powertrain news for the Onyx Edition XT trim. The 2019’s 3.6R six-cylinder engine option is gone, replaced by the 260-horsepower, turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder and continuously variable automatic transmission used in the larger Subaru Ascent.
