2020 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid’s Price Is as Competitive as Its Gas Mileage
When Hyundai debuted the redesigned 2020 Sonata Hybrid at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show, we learned it represented a significant improvement in fuel economy over the 2019 model and that it was competitive with its chief rivals, the 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid. What we hadn’t learned, however, was its price. Now we know that, too, will be competitive, with the least spendy Blue trim priced from $28,725 (prices include a $975 destination fee).
That price puts it above the Honda Accord Hybrid’s $26,575 base price but below the Camry Hybrid’s steeper $29,385 price. Standard equipment for the base-trim Sonata Hybrid Blue includes an 8-inch infotainment display with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 16-inch alloy wheels and advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane follow assist, forward automatic emergency braking and blind spot warning with collision avoidance.
Upgrade to the mid-level SEL trim — priced from $30,875 — upgrades the wheels to 17 inches and adds features like LED taillights, eight-way power driver’s seat and four-way power passenger seat, heated front seats, wireless device charging, two USB ports versus the Blue’s one, a Bose premium stereo system and Hyundai’s Digital Key technology.
The highest trim level, the Sonata Hybrid Limited, is priced from $36,275 and is more expensive to start than either highest trim of the Accord or Camry hybrids. Buyers will get the Sonata Hybrid’s solar roof panel, leather upholstery, heated steering wheel, color head-up display and an upgraded 10.25-inch infotainment display. Additional safety features include front and rear parking sensors, Hyundai’s blind spot monitor camera system, a 360-degree camera system and Hyundai’s semi-autonomous Highway Driving Assist system.
Hyundai says the Sonata Hybrid will arrive in dealerships in June.
