2019 Genesis G70 Video Review

Hyundai’s luxury brand is turning its focus to the sporty side with the introduction of the 2019 Genesis G70. The compact sports sedan slots below the mid-luxury G80 and flagship G90 sedans, and it will compete against heavyweights like the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4.

The 2019 G70 made its debut late last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show, but we got an even closer look at the new sedan on the floor of the 2018 New York International Auto Show.

Outside, the new sedan wears many of the same styling cues that we first saw on the Genesis New York concept, including a large, chain-link-like grille. In back, the G70 wears a less busy, more streamlined look, and its distinctive-looking taillights set it apart from the compact sports sedan pack.

Inside, while the G70’s cabin materials can’t quite match the competitors in terms of quality, there’s plenty of eye candy. The sedan’s quilted Nappa leather seats and brushed metal trim make it stand out. What’s more, an unfussy control layout should give it a leg up over its European competition.
