CARS.COM — If it seems to you as if the Corolla has been around forever, that’s because it’s been around for 50 years. Toyota is celebrating that milestone with a limited-edition 50th Anniversary package, as well as with updates to all Corolla models.

Exterior

All trim levels get a tweaked grille, two new exterior colors and standard LED headlights for 2017: bi-LED headlamps on L, LE and LE Eco trims and complex-LED headlights on SE, XSE and XLE trims.

Toyota says 8,000 50th Anniversary models will be sold in the U.S. They’ll get 17-inch alloy wheels with dark gray inserts, specific interior trim, a choice of three exclusive colors and unique exterior badges.

Interior

More changes are inside, as the 50th Anniversary package includes a 7-inch touch-screen, Toyota’s Entune Audio Plus, black interior with dark red contrast stitching throughout, unique floor mats and an available moonroof.

All Corollas get what Toyota says is an upgraded interior with audio enhancements, but we’ll need to see one up close to get a sense of what that really means.

Safety

A backup camera now is standard for all trim levels. In addition, Toyota’s Toyota Safety Sense-P package is now available on all trim levels; it bundles radar adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist and a collision prevention system with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.
