CARS.COM — Hyundai, following the lead of Toyota with Lexus and Honda with Acura, is spinning off its own luxury brand. In the case of the Korean automaker, its luxury cars will come under the Genesis brand name. The first car to bow under that naming umbrella is the G90, which made its U.S. debut at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The 2017 G90 has a prominent hood, shortened overhangs, plenty of chrome flourishes and, of course, a new Genesis emblem. Inside, the car offers more headroom and legroom for the driver and front passenger than the Equus sedan that it replaces. It’s also got authentic wood accents and, Hyundai claims, a quieter cabin thanks to more sound-absorbing materials, laminated glass and headliner insulation that’s 20 percent thicker than before.
