2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn Photo Gallery

CARS.COM — You’ll probably never get to ride in a Rolls-Royce Dawn, much less drive one. Hell, you may never even catch a glimpse of one in the wild unless you sit and watch the rich and famous drive by from a Beverly Hills, Calif., bus bench. But if you did find yourself behind the wheel of this all-new, ultra-luxurious convertible that starts around $335,000 (maybe you’re a valet?) you’d get at least an inkling of how the other half lives — and when we say “half,” in this case, we don’t mean the 50 percent, if you catch our drift.

Yep, the 2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn will turn an income-inequality crusader into a limousine liberal in the 4.9 seconds it takes the 563-horsepower, twin-turbo 6.6-liter V-12 to propel this land yacht to 62 mph. The decadence is in the details, therefore an exhaustive list of opulent details would be, well, exhausting. But some of the highfalutin highlights include the rearward-opening doors, the “silent”-opening soft-top that works up to 30 mph, more wood paneling than in your Uncle Chet’s fishing cabin, and a touchpad multimedia controller to prevent the — ulchhh! — fingerprints a touch-screen collects.
Oh, and there’s also a retractable umbrella, embossed with the RR logo, that pops out from the front fender at the touch of a button when the door is open. Perhaps it’s a reminder that “into each life, some rain must fall” — and that it’s darkest before the Dawn.
