2015-2016 Volkswagen Tiguan, CC: Recall Alert
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 27,800 model-year 2015-16 Volkswagen Tiguan SUVs and CC sedans
The Problem: The airbag electronic control unit may have a defective power supply capacitor that can result in deactivation or inadvertent deployment, increasing the risk of injury.
The Fix: Dealers will install new software and replace the airbag ECU, as necessary, for free.
What Owners Should Do: Volkswagen will begin notifying owners Sept. 13. Owners can call the automaker at 800-893-5298, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
