Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1,800 model-year 2015-16 Chevrolet Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicles and SS sedans

The Problem: Corrosion of the connector between the electric power steering module and the torque sensor connector may cause a loss of electric power steering assist, increasing the steering effort needed to control the car if power steering is lost and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the steering gear assembly for free.

What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet manufacturer GM will begin notifying owners June 22. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-630-2438, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
