Vehicles Affected: Approximately 216,000 model-year 2013-16 Audi A5 coupes and cabriolets, A4 sedans, A4 Allroad wagons and Q5 SUVs
The Problem: Contact corrosion within the electrical connector for the auxiliary heater may cause the heater wires to overheat or melt, increasing the risk of fire and an accident or injury.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the auxiliary heater and, as necessary, update the software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Audi manufacturer Volkswagen did not immediately announce an owner notification schedule. Owners can call Audi at 800-893-5298 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
