2012-2013 Chrysler 200, Dodge Avenger and Jeep Liberty: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 414,000 model-year 2012 Jeep Liberty SUVs, and model-year 2012-13 Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger sedans
The Problem: A component common to the occupant restraint modules may degrade after extensive vehicle use. This could inhibit deployment of the active head restraints, which automatically move forward in certain rear impacts to help protect front-row occupants from whiplash injury.
Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles noted that the condition may cause a warning light in the instrument cluster to illuminate, in which case owners should contact their dealers. FCA also noted that airbag function is unaffected by this issue, and the automaker is unaware of any associated accidents or injuries.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the occupant restraint control modules for free.
What Owners Should Do: FCA will begin notifying owners in November. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403 for more information.
