2006-2010 Kia Sedona, Sorento: Recall Alert
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 228,800 model-year 2006-10 Kia Sedona minivans and model-year 2007-09 Sorento SUVs
The Problem: Moisture may enter the antilock brake system module and result in an electrical short, which may cause an engine compartment fire even when the vehicle is turned off, increasing the risk of an injury.
The Fix: Dealers will install for free a relay in the main junction box to prevent power from being directed to the hydraulic electronic control unit when the vehicle’s ignition switch is turned off.
What Owners Should Do: Kia will begin notifying owners April 10. Owners can call the automaker at 800-333-4542, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
