Vehicles Affected: Approximately 139,000 model-year 2013-18 Audi S6 and S7 sedans, model-year 2012-18 A6 and A7 sedans, and model-year 2014-18 RS7 sedans equipped with basic seats
The Problem: Stress or wear of the body-sensing mat in the front passenger seat may cause the passenger occupant detection system control module to malfunction, which could lead to the front passenger airbag not deploying properly in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The Fix: Dealers will install a PODS system repair kit, free of charge.
What Owners Should Do: Audi parent company Volkswagen will begin notifying owners July 31. Owners can call the automaker at 800-253-2834, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
