If you’re shopping for a compact SUV, then the Hyundai Tucson is almost certainly on your list of considerations — and if it’s not, you might wanna consider whether you’re doing your due diligence. Refreshed for the third year of its current generation, the 2025 Tucson keeps things competitive in the class in terms of looks, tech and powertrain — but that’s not to say it’s perfect. Our reviewers still found room for improvement, as you’ll see in one of Cars.com’s most popular news articles of the past week, a roundup of the latest Tucson’s pros and cons.

The Tucson scores with a newly powered-up 47.7-kilowatt electric motor that gives just enough of a boost to the 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine’s output; a smooth, peaceful, easygoing, low-drama driving experience; a matching 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen offering attractive, user-friendly infotainment operation; thoughtfully upgraded cargo space, cabin configuration and convenience features; and pricing for what you get, with the gas-only model still starting under $30,000 and the hybrid still starting under $35,000 despite more standard content. The Tucson takes an L, however, with its 2-mpg worse fuel-economy estimate despite the aforementioned electric enhancement, and with the XRT trim amounting to off-roader posturing without much additional capability to back it up.

If the Tucson’s off-road deficiency is a deal breaker for you, you’ll want to check out this week’s third-place finisher: our 2025 ranking of the best mid-size pickup trucks for off-roading. Our experts took four trucks to a well-known Michigan course to test their prowess past the pavement in the areas of high-speed driving over terrain, rock crawling, and hill ascent and descent.

Taking the top spot was the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado, but for full details on how each truck fared in our quest to find the best mid-size off-road pickup for 2025 — as well as specified trim level, as-tested price, powertrain specs, a model-by-model breakdown of individual categorical scores and much more — follow the link below to the No. 3 news story of the week.
