In a time of cheap gas and a strong economy, the prospect of owning an electric vehicle may not be top of mind when it comes to your automotive shopping priorities. But attention-grabbing publicity from the likes of Tesla and technological developments for a variety of body styles has meant that EVs in recent years have gone from a vehicular punchline to an alternative meant to be taken more seriously than ever. Keeping tabs on automakers’ progress is the EPA, which compiles its Fuel Economy Guide each year to educate car buyers on fuel-efficient vehicles, and nowhere is fuel efficiency more on display than with those cars that shun gas entirely.

Below is the EPA’s extensive guide full of data for model-year 2019 EVs sorted to address one key factor: range anxiety. Perhaps more than anything else, range anxiety plays a crucial part in EV shoppers’ concerns, so we organized these vehicles by estimated range rather than mpg-equivalent. The latter may be a good gauge of efficiency, but it’s not as practical or straightforward when you’re considering trips between charges.
