Updated 2025 Ram HD Starts at $47,560 for 2500, $48,565 for 3500

Ram refreshed its hardworking 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickup trucks for the 2025 model year with updates aimed more at improving comfort and increasing fuel economy rather than appearance. (Other than updated grilles that differ between trim levels and new headlights, the Rams look the same as before.) The trucks now offer more and larger touchscreens, new towing tech and additional active-safety features.

What’s New for the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty?
For 2025, the Ram HD trucks’ maximum payload and towing capacities decrease only minimally, dropping 90 and 480 pounds — or approximately one adult Shetland pony — to 7,590 and 36,610 pounds, respectively. Additionally, a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen is now available, as is a 10.25-inch screen to keep the front passenger entertained; both operate on a new electronic architecture that Ram says is five times faster than the old software. A new trailer reverse guidance system incorporates a 360-degree camera system and mimics what is available on Ford’s pickups, allowing users to input a few key trailer measurements and then use a knob on the dashboard to steer the trailer directly rather than the traditional tricky manual-steering inputs. Available blind spot monitors also cover the length of the trailer.

What Are the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty’s Engine and Cab Options?
The Ram HDs are once again available in a dizzying array of configurations: three cab sizes, two bed lengths, seven trim levels (five on the 3500), rear- or four-wheel drive, single or dual (3500 only) rear wheels, and two engines.
The standard engine is a 405-horsepower, 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 putting out 429 pounds-feet of torque. An available Cummins turbo-diesel 6.7-liter inline-six is thoroughly reworked for 2025, starting with a revised block and head and a new turbo. Whereas Ram previously offered the diesel in standard- and high-output versions, all diesels for 2025 are the high-output version, which grunts out 430 hp and 1,075 pounds-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic is now the only transmission available (previously, the diesel was backed by a six-speed). RWD is standard and 4WD available except on the 2500 Power Wagon and Rebel, where it’s standard. Dual rear wheels are available on the 3500, but only with the 8-foot bed. (A 6-foot-4-inch bed is available.)
A regular (two-door) cab with an 8-foot box is only available on the base Tradesman and Big Horn trim levels, while a crew cab with a 6-foot-4-inch box is standard on the rest of the lineup. A crew cab with the 8-foot bed combo is available on all trims except the off-road-oriented Power Wagon and Rebel. Ram also offers the Laramie, Limited and Limited Longhorn with its Mega Cab, which stretches rear-seat legroom; it’s only available with the shorter bed and 4WD and includes the diesel engine.
Safety Features and Trim Levels
Standard safety tech for the 2025 Ram HD is limited to forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and an integrated trailer brake controller. Available equipment includes lane departure warning, lane departure steering assist, a 360-degree camera system, road-sign recognition, a driver attention monitor, automatic high beams and trailer tire-pressure monitors.
The entry-level Tradesman is likewise bare-bones. It rides on black 17-inch steel wheels and features LED headlights and foglights, keyless start, manually adjustable vinyl front seats, six speakers, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Big Horn is mostly the same, but it gets 18-inch wheels, chrome bumpers, cloth upholstery, and front and rear parking sensors.
The Power Wagon is the HD’s version of the Baja-blasting light-duty 1500 RHO but with its beefier chassis aimed more at low-speed clambering than the RHO’s high-speed antics. The Power Wagon sits 1.1 inches higher than the rest of the lineup on Bilstein shocks and 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires; it also features locking front and rear differentials, a disconnecting front anti-roll bar, skid plates protecting the transfer case and fuel tank, and a 12,000-pound winch in the front bumper. The Power Wagon is civilized, too, though, and includes modern technology like blind spot monitors with trailer coverage and rear cross-traffic alert, as well as comfort features including heated and power-adjustable seats, a heated steering wheel, 12-inch digital instrument cluster and 12-inch touchscreen with navigation.
The Rebel is not quite as hardcore as the Power Wagon, sitting only 0.2 inch higher than other Ram 2500s on 20-inch wheels, and it forgoes the locking front differential but keeps the rear locker. Unlike the Power Wagon, which is only available with the Hemi V-8, Rebel buyers can spec the Cummins diesel.
Opt for the Laramie and you’ll get the Power Wagon’s luxury and tech features, plus body-color bumpers, LED taillights, a dampened tailgate to prevent it from slamming open, and keyless entry. Inside, the Laramie upgrades to leather upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control, and its infotainment system gains Alexa Built-In.
The Limited and Limited Longhorn offer two different luxury styles. The Limited is a modern take and the Longhorn more rustic, with brown filigreed leather that makes the cabin look like it’s lined in repurposed cowboy boots. Both feature chrome running boards, the RamBox bedside storage bins (short bed only), 20-inch wheels and rain-sensing windshield wipers. In addition to leather upholstery, both trims also boast ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.5-inch touchscreen and 17-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
