Redesigned 2022 Subaru WRX Prices Start at $30,100
The 2022 Subaru WRX is the first model year of a new generation of WRX. It finally takes advantage of Subaru’s global vehicle platform, gets an ever-so-slightly-more-powerful turbocharged 2.4-liter engine to replace its turbo 2.0-liter four, and has what Subaru claims is a better continuously variable automatic transmission (though a six-speed manual transmission is still standard, thankfully). And now we know that a base model will cost $30,100 to start, an increase of almost $1,700 over the 2021’s starting price (all prices include destination fees). Of the $1,680 increase in starting price, $70 is an increase in the destination fee to $995 from $925.

What’s New
Besides the new styling and claimed improved performance, the WRX will come with a new 11.6-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity standard on all but the base model, which gets dual 7.0-inch touchscreen displays. WRX models with the CVT are also equipped with Subaru’s EyeSight suite of safety tech, including adaptive cruise control.
Larger single display aside, upgrading from a base model to the Premium trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels instead of 17s, LED foglights, keyless access with push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, two rear USB ports and premium interior upholstery. Optional on the Premium is an 11-speaker Harmon Kardon stereo and a power moonroof.
The WRX Limited builds on the Premium, making the Harmon Kardon stereo and power moonroof standard and adding adaptive LED headlights, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane change assist, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, faux suede seat trim and built-in navigation on the 11.6-inch touchscreen.
Also new for 2022 is the range-topping GT trim that adds upgraded Recaro-brand front sport seats, an adaptive suspension and GT-exclusive 18-inch wheels wrapped in summer performance tires. Unfortunately for purists, the GT also comes exclusively with the CVT.
Pricing and Release Date
The new 2022 WRX goes on sale in the spring. Buyers can get the CVT on any trim level for $1,850. The upgraded Harmon Kardon stereo will cost Premium model buyers an extra $1,875 (it throws in a moonroof, too). With so much content that was once optional now standard on the Limited, that trim level sees the greatest price increase. And buyers interested in the GT should be prepared to shell out last-gen WRX STI money.
