High-Performance 2020 Cadillac CT4-V, CT5-V Blackwing Sound Kinda Fly
Cadillac has announced that the ultra-high-performance versions of the brand’s new compact sports sedans will be called the 2020 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing. Both vehicles are still undergoing development testing, and both will offer a manual transmission, according to the GM luxury brand.

Cadillac also released two images of the cars in development camouflage at Virginia International Raceway, where Cadillac says the prototypes each set lap times “seconds faster” than the CT4 and CT5 performance variants’ ATS-V and CTS-V predecessors. The brand says that the new Blackwing models will have specially tuned chassis, vehicle control technologies, and engines — but that’s all the details we have so far.
Given that Cadillac is using the Blackwing name, it seems likely that the cars will use Cadillac’s Blackwing V-8 — a twin-turbocharged 4.2-liter V-8 that GM designed and built but only ever saw light in one car: the short-lived CT6 Platinum and CT6-V. In that application, it made 500-550 horsepower and 574-640 pounds-feet of torque. Cadillac previously said that the engine was discontinued, but unless it’s planning on calling some other engine “Blackwing” (which isn’t out of the question, given how nutty GM naming conventions have been in recent years), the powerful twin-turbo motor seems a good bet.
